PromoMatting is a leader in custom floor mats and has risen to the top mostly in part due to happy and hard working employees. David Sprayberry, Director of IT, is no exception. He is known around the office as bit of a jokester, but you can always find him hard at work. He recently sat down for a short interview as part of our 25 year Anniversary celebration, which you can read below.
- How long have you been with the company?
- 17 years
- What do you like most about working here?
- I would have to say the people. Everyone here I consider my extended family.
- What is the most frequently asked question you get as Director of IT?

- What’s my password?
- What three traits define you?
- Helpful, confidential, and dependable.

- What is your favorite leisure activity?
- While there are many (hunting, fishing, etc) as long as it’s an activity that I am doing with my family that’s all that matters.
- What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
- I would have been a Wildlife Biologist working for the Department of Natural Resources. I was on the education path to this when computers and networking really started being integrated into the mid to small business world. I had always had an interest in computers and at my previous job I was the most knowledgeable at our location, so I ended up taking care of all their computer needs. The rest is history.
- How do you define success?
- Success for me is defined several ways. The respect and love you receive from your friends and family and to continuously achieve goals in life, both short and long term.
- Tell us something that might surprise us about you.
- I am an official Girl Scout. No I don’t wear the uniform, but because I hold certification such as life guard, canoe instructor, range master, and so on, in order for my daughters Girl Scout troop to be able to do these things, someone has to take the classes and be certified. Since I hold all these certifications from Boy Scouts and they carry over to Girl Scouts, I have to be an official Girl Scout leader (for insurance purposes) to take them on trips.
